Volvo PL3005D Pipelayer
With its excavator-based configuration, the PL3005D offers a 360-degree swing with full lifting performance and functionality at all radius positions. The undercarriage system allows for counter-rotation of the tracks for easy positioning and directional change of the machine. The high ground clearance allows the machine to operate easily in rugged conditions. The PL3005D also features a mechanical, upper-structure swing lock for use when working on severe grades.
The machine is fitted with an on-board load management system (LMS) that uses wireless communication to enable the operator to know if a load can be safely lifted. When not being used for pipe laying, the Volvo PL3005D can quickly be converted into a standard excavator by swapping the boom out. Side- and rear-mounted video cameras allow for better jobsite visibility, and load-indicating light bars, located on both sides at the end of the boom, provide visible warning to ground personnel and operators of other machines.
The latest generation Volvo Care Cab provides efficient air management and filtering systems that create a comfortable, clean, low-noise and low-vibration work environment for the operator. With a maximum operating weight of 78,350 pounds, the PL3005D comes equipped with Volvo’s state-of-the art CareTrack telematics system.
