Harris has more than 30 years of experience representing oil and gas producers, working interest owners, land and mineral owners, financial institutions and public agencies on oil and gas, energy and environmental matters. He has extensive experience in all aspects of energy law, including the wide range of operational problems faced by energy producers doing business in California and in other states. Harris also has significant experience representing oil and gas, industrial and local government clients in environmental litigation, transactional and regulatory matters.

“As oil and gas development continues to expand in California, John brings to our clients a wealth of knowledge that will greatly benefit them,” said Clint Vince, head of SNR Denton’s Energy, Transport and Infrastructure sector. “He is a strong addition to our U.S. oil and gas practice and global sector team.”

Harris has extensive experience in the day-to-day legal issues that face energy producers in California, from obtaining permits for oil and gas exploration and production operations and facilities to resolving issues with environmental regulators. He also advises clients and interacts with legislators and regulators regarding matters affecting the energy industry in California.

“Oil and gas and environmental law is a rapidly changing space, and I am happy to be part of a law firm which quickly and adroitly adapts to the constantly shifting economic, technical and regulatory landscape of the energy industry,” Harris said. “SNR Denton’s expanding platform in the [United States] and around the world will greatly benefit my clients, and I am pleased to add my extensive experience to this firm’s deep bench of talent in the energy sector.”

Also having joined SNR Denton’s Los Angeles-based oil and gas team are associates Ernest J. Guadiana and Paul M. Williams.

Guadiana represents clients in litigation, transactional and compliance matters regarding oil and gas disputes, administrative matters and negotiations, as well as water quality, water rights and environmental contamination.

Williams focuses his practice primarily on the oil and gas industry at all stages of the commercial process. He has acted for clients involved in petroleum transactions in North and South America, Europe, Asia, Australia and Africa.
