“We wanted to have a little fun as we mark this milestone, so check our website and your inbox for your many chances to win with Schonstedt in 2013,” said Schonstedt president Mark Pugh. Those interested in entering the giveaways can visit www.schonstedt.com.

Founded in 1953 by Erick O. Schonstedt, the company was initially a subcontractor to the aerospace industry, providing high-grade magnetometers for aerospace and laboratory applications. The firm began making magnetic locators for land surveyors in the 1970s, and the distinctive “yellow stick” soon became the global standard for survey monument location. In fact, in the survey industry, “Schonstedt” or “Schonny” is the de facto term for magnetic locators, according to a company statement. Also in the 1970s, the company began producing utility locators and today the company provides handheld utility locators to water, gas, electrical and telecommunications industries worldwide.

“We’re a proud company with a rich history,” said Bob Ebberson, director of business development, “And we’re inviting locating professionals to celebrate with us in 2013.”
