Precast Concrete Foundations Improve Pipeline Infrastructure

news-kennerHanson Pipe and Precast LLC and Kenner Innovative Design Systems LLC have expanded the availability of precast reinforced concrete chain wall foundations to the oil and gas industry. Four elevated electrical substations were successfully installed along a pipeline at four sites from Texas to Oklahoma.

The patented Kenner Chain Wall is ideal for on-grade or elevated large electrical substations, equipment shelters or other structures, ensuring that key equipment is above the flood zone.

“The chain wall arrives as a finished engineered foundation and can be installed in minutes, eliminating the need for forms, concrete pours and curing time,” said Oliver Delery Jr., P.E., sales manager for Hanson Pipe and Precast. “With minimal site prep, it saves labor, time and costs on the jobsite.”

The chain wall accommodates standard equipment shelter or pre-fabricated building lengths of 16, 20 and 28 ft with on-grade, elevated or double elevated requirements up to 20 ft (custom sizes are also available). In addition, the foundation weight has been reduced as much as 50 to 70 percent when compared to traditional pour-in-place construction and can reduce or eliminate the need for pilings.

To date, successful installations include cellular tower equipment shelters, electrical substations, and generators across the telecommunications, land mobile radio, law enforcement, railroad and oil and gas industries.
