Medallion Seeks Support for Pipeline Expansions
A subsidiary of Medallion Midstream LLC is planning to build two pipelines to expand capacity from the company’s existing Midkiff Station in Upton County, Texas. The Irving, Texas-based Medallion Pipeline Co. LLC announced Feb. 24 a binding open season to solicit long-term shipper commitments for firm transportation capacity on the expansions.
The open season represents the fourth major expansion of Medallion’s existing 370-mile crude oil pipeline system. The project will further extend and expand the geographic scope of the Medallion system:
- The Crane Extension is a proposed 100,000-barrel per day (bpd) bi-directional crude oil pipeline. It will extend approximately 25 miles southwest from Medallion’s existing Midkiff Station in northwestern Upton County, Texas, to an interconnect with Magellan Midstream Partners’ Longhorn Pipeline in eastern Crane County, Texas.
- An integral part of the overall project is a proposed 25,000-bpd expansion of Medallion’s existing Midkiff Lateral, which extends northwest from the Midkiff Station to the Garden City Station in Glasscock County, Texas. As part of the Midkiff expansion, the existing Midkiff Lateral will be reconfigured for bi-directional operations.
Medallion is seeking long-term commitments for firm transportation capacity on the Crane Extension and the Midkiff Lateral expansion. The open season allows interested shippers to acquire capacity under minimum 10-year term transportation service agreements. The expansion project is expected to begin full commercial operations in the second quarter of 2016. However, segments of the expansion project may commence service earlier on an interim basis. The open season ends March 16. For more information, visit the company’s website.
