Expanding Coverage in Your Hands

Shortly after the May issue went to print, the North American Oil & Gas Pipelines app became available for download in the Apple newsstand for the iPad and iPad mini. This new platform for the magazine allows us to offer new ways to interact with you, the reader, as well to provide increased coverage of the booming oil and gas pipeline industry.

The app allows us to give you expanded coverage and offer exclusive content that the print medium doesn’t allow, such as videos, expanded photo galleries and additional editorial.

By the time you read this, you will be able to download the April, May and June issues all for the same price you paid for this magazine — i.e., for free.

I am excited to provide readers with an additional avenue to receive all your pipeline-related news. Between the monthly print magazine, biweekly e-newsletter, daily updates at napipelines.com, our Twitter feed and now the iPad app, our editorial team can provide you with up-to-the-minute updates. No matter where you are, we can reach you.

The app version of North American Oil & Gas Pipelines provides a more interactive approach to our coverage of the industry. I truly hope you enjoy this new way to experience the magazine.

If you need help getting the app, turn to page 39 of the print magazine and see the instructions on how to download the magazine to your iPad.

Once you have the app, you’ll receive notices when the latest issue is available for download. You’ll still receive the same great content from the print magazine, but you’ll also get a few extra goodies in the digital version. For instance, see the June cover come to life with an embedded video from Case Construction Equipment that features Louisville, Kentucky-based Southern Pipeline Construction at a recent pipeline maintenance project where they use Case backhoes to access a distribution line.

You will also find stories where we had way too many great photos to include in the print version. But thanks to the app format, we can include scrolling galleries that give you a better picture (was that a cheap pun?) of the story.

These bonus features are highlighted in the app’s table of contents, so you don’t have to waste valuable time searching for the extras. All you have to do is tap, swipe and flip your way through the issue to scroll through each story, pull out hidden tabs and link to informative websites through your iPad’s Internet connection. Just search the Apple newsstand to download the free North American Oil & Gas Pipelines app.
