AUCSC 2020 Provides Underground Corrosion Training for Pipeliners

The 65th annual Appalachian Underground Corrosion Short Course (AUCSC 2020) will take place May 12-14, 2020, in Morgantown, West Virginia. Detailed information and online registration is available at aucsc.com.

AUCSC is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit educational association, focusing on underground corrosion, primarily pipelines and storage tanks, while also offering more than 100 hours of basic, intermediate and advanced training. AUCSC provides attendees with technical information about the causes and prevention of corrosion on underground structures.

Additional courses in coatings, internal corrosion, today’s technology, water and wastewater corrosion prevention, several hands-on outdoor clinics and a corrosion fundamentals course will also be offered. Licensed professional engineers may earn professional development hours (PDH’s) for attending AUCSC. Professional engineers should submit proof of their completion of AUCSC courses to their state’s engineering licensing board.

A NACE Technician Exam Review Course is also offered. NACE will offer various NACE Exams during AUCSC 2020. Please contact NACE directly for additional information regarding the exam at (281) 228-6211. AUCSC course hours may be applied toward NACE recertification requirements.

The AUCSC scholarship program provides two scholarships for the West Virginia University (WVU) system Oil and Gas Program and two scholarships for the University of Akron Corrosion Engineering Program. In addition, for 2020 the scholarship program is funding two veterans in the NACE Foundation workforce development program. This program puts veterans through the NACE Basic Corrosion Course then either the Cathodic protection level I or the Corrosion Inspector Level I course then assists in finding a job for the veterans upon successful completion of the courses.

AUCSC will also be hosting a second annual, one-mile “Fun Run” on Wednesday, May 13. The entry fee will be $10 with all participants receiving a T-shirt to commemorate the run. Please refer to the AUCSC website for payment, date, time and location information.
