Pipelines 2015, the annual meeting of the American Society of Civil Engineers’ Pipelines Division, is regarded as the premier technical conference for professionals engaged in pipeline planning, design, construction, maintenance and repair.
This year, conference organizers announced that a record number of abstracts were received, resulting in the strongest slate of presentations to date.
“The high number of abstracts allowed us to select high-level presentations,” said Firat Sever, technical program co-chair. “In addition, the panel discussions allow us the opportunity to go outside the box in presenting new topics that are emerging in the industry.”
The theme of this year’s conference is “Recent Advances in Underground Pipeline Engineering and Construction,” featuring 175 papers to be presented across seven tracks and three panel discussions.
The major topics to be explored at Pipelines 2015 include: Design, Construction, Trenchless installation, Tunneling/Microtunneling , Asset Management, Condition Assessment/Rehabilitation, Computational Modeling, Water Distribution Systems Management, Operation & Maintenance, and Oil and Gas.
In addition to the presentation tracks, Pipelines 2015 is offering three panel discussions, which is new to the technical program. The panel discussions cover “Energy Generation in Pipelines” and “Fiber Optics in Pipelines,” as well as the always important “ASCE Ethics.”
“ASCE’s Pipelines conference has always been a highly respected technical conference with peer-reviewed papers, and this year is no different,” said Lynn Osborn, technical program co-chair. “The program includes the leading pipeline experts from around the world.”
The pre-conference workshops offer attendees another option to delve into the topics that interest them most. Pre-conference workshops topics include: Large Diameter Pipeline Forum; AWWA Pipe Manuals of Practice; Pressure Pipeline Design for Water and Wastewater; Comprehensive Asbestos Cement Pipe Bursting; Design Practice for Corrugated High Density Polyethylene Drainage Pipe; and Writing Performance Specifications for Cured-in-Place Pipe and Manhole Rehabilitation.
While the technical program is the hallmark of the event, there are many other aspects of Pipelines 2015, including a sold-out exhibit hall, networking events, and technical tour.ASCE, ASCE Pipelines, conferences, Pipelines 2015
