The American Pipeline Contractors Association hosted its annual convention Feb. 26-March 2 at the Four Seasons Resort, in Santa Barbara, Calif. More than 250 attendees, including regular and associate members, enjoyed five days of networking, industry updates, market projections, education and a little bit of Santa Barbara-themed fun.
After the member meetings on Thursday, Feb. 27, guests were invited to participate in the annual golf tournament. Those not inclined to show off their golf skills, were welcome to enjoy a luxurious catamaran tour of the bay area or try their hand at skeet shooting.
Friday morning consisted of various speakers to inform members on important and relevant industry-related issues. Speakers included Mark Beisecker, from Cobbs Allen, who discussed “Effective Safety Leadership”; Rick Hoffman, of the INGAA Foundation, presented on “Construction Quality Initiatives”; and John Hofmeister, founder and CEO of Citizens for Affordable Energy, former president of Shell Oil Co. and author of the book Why We Hate Oil Companies, discussed energy now and into the future.
